Tenz ("Tenz," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Tenz mobile application and the website located at tenzlist.com (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you access or use our Service. By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
We encourage you to read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide to Us
We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us when you use the Service, including:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, username, and password. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text.
- Profile Information: You may choose to provide additional information for your public profile, such as a profile photo, biography, and location.
- User Content: We collect the content you create, upload, or share through the Service, including lists, list items, item photos and descriptions, Daily Tenz photos and captions, comments, and any other materials you submit.
- Social Activity: We collect information about your interactions with other Users and content, including follows, likes, saves, remixes, and list interactions.
- Communications: When you contact us for support, report a problem, or otherwise communicate with us, we collect the information you provide in those communications, including your name, email address, and the content of your messages.
- Purchase Information: When you make in-app purchases, we collect transaction records, subscription status, and purchase history. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple (App Store), and we do not collect, store, or have access to your payment card details, bank account numbers, or other financial payment information.
- Search Queries: We may collect your search queries within the Service to improve search results and the overall user experience.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you access or use the Service, we automatically collect certain information, including:
- Device Information: We collect information about the device you use to access the Service, including the device type, model, operating system and version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
- Usage Data: We collect information about your interactions with the Service, including the features you use, the content you view, the frequency and duration of your activities, and the actions you take within the Service.
- Log Data: Our servers automatically record information when you access the Service, including your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamps, clickstream data, and crash reports.
- Push Notification Tokens: If you enable push notifications, we collect your Expo push notification token to deliver notifications to your device.
- Cookies and Similar Technologies: When you access our website (tenzlist.com), we may use cookies, web beacons, pixels, and similar tracking technologies to collect information about your browsing activity. You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings.
1.3 Information from Third Parties
We may receive information about you from third-party sources, including:
- Sign-In Providers: If we offer third-party sign-in options (such as Apple Sign-In or other social login providers), we may receive your name, email address, and profile information from those providers, subject to their privacy policies and your privacy settings with those providers.
- Platform Providers: We may receive information from Apple related to your in-app purchase transactions and subscription status.
- Other Users: Other Users may provide information about you when they tag you, mention you, or interact with content associated with your account.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Provide and Maintain the Service: To operate, deliver, and maintain the core functionality of the Service, including enabling you to create, share, and discover Top 10 lists, post Daily Tenz moments, follow other Users, comment, like, and remix lists.
- Personalize Your Experience: To customize and personalize the content, features, and recommendations you see, including curating your feed based on your interests, activity, interactions, and the Users you follow.
- Communications and Notifications: To send you push notifications about social activity (such as new followers, likes, comments, and remixes), service announcements, and updates, subject to your notification preferences.
- Process Purchases: To process in-app purchases, manage subscription status, and coordinate with Apple regarding transactions.
- Safety and Security: To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent, unauthorized, or illegal activity; to protect the safety, integrity, and security of the Service and our Users; to enforce our Terms of Service; and to address content that violates our policies.
- Analytics and Improvement: To analyze usage trends and patterns, measure the effectiveness of features, conduct research and development, and improve the Service, including its functionality, design, and user experience.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or governmental requests, and to establish, exercise, or defend our legal rights.
- Promotional Purposes: To use your User Content in connection with advertising, marketing, and promotional activities for the Service, as described in our Terms of Service.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
3.1 With Other Users
When you create a public profile, publish lists, post Daily Tenz moments, or engage in other social activities on the Service, that content and associated information (such as your username, profile photo, and public profile information) are visible to other Users and, in some cases, to the general public. Content you share publicly may also be discoverable through search engines and other third-party services.
3.2 With Service Providers
We share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf. These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only for the purposes of providing their services to us and in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Our service providers include:
- Convex (convex.dev) — Backend infrastructure, database, and file storage;
- Expo (expo.dev) — Mobile application framework and push notification delivery;
- RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) — In-app purchase and subscription management;
- Unsplash (unsplash.com) — Image search and sourcing for list items;
- TMDb (The Movie Database) (themoviedb.org) — Movie and television data and images for list items; and
- TheSportsDB (thesportsdb.com) — Sports data and images for list items.
3.3 For Legal Requirements and Law Enforcement
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; (b) enforce our Terms of Service or other agreements, including investigation of potential violations; (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect against harm to the rights, property, or safety of Tenz, our Users, or the public as required or permitted by law.
3.4 Business Transfers
In the event that Tenz is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, dissolution, sale of all or a portion of its assets, or similar transaction or proceeding, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice on the Service of any change in ownership or uses of your personal information, as well as any choices you may have regarding your personal information.
3.5 With Your Consent
We may share your information with third parties when you have given us your explicit consent to do so.
3.6 Aggregated and Anonymized Data
We may share aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you with third parties for research, marketing, analytics, and other purposes.
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. We may also retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and protect our legitimate business interests. When your account is deleted, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a commercially reasonable time period, except where we are required by law to retain certain information or where retention is necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as fraud prevention and safety.
Certain information may persist in backup systems and cached or archived pages for a limited period after deletion. User Content that has been shared, remixed, or redistributed by other Users may continue to exist on the Service even after your account is deleted, to the extent described in our Terms of Service.
5. Data Security
We implement commercially reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational security measures designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, destruction, or loss. These measures include:
- Encryption of passwords using industry-standard bcrypt hashing;
- Secure data transmission using HTTPS/TLS protocols;
- Access controls that limit employee and contractor access to personal information on a need-to-know basis;
- Regular monitoring and review of our security practices; and
- Use of reputable, security-audited third-party infrastructure providers.
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for any activity that occurs under your account.
6. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, children under the age of thirteen (13). In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA"), if we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we may have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at privacy@tenzlist.com so that we can take appropriate action.
7. Your Rights and Choices
7.1 Account Information
You may access, update, or correct your account information at any time through the app settings. If you wish to delete your account, you may do so through the account deletion feature in the app settings or by contacting us at privacy@tenzlist.com. Please note that account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Certain information may be retained as described in Section 4 above.
7.2 Notification Preferences
You can manage your push notification preferences within the app settings, including enabling or disabling notifications by type (e.g., likes, follows, comments, remixes). You may also disable push notifications entirely through your device settings.
7.3 California Residents — Your California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA"), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA"), provides you with additional rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to Know: You have the right to request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources from which we collected that information, the business or commercial purpose for collecting that information, and the categories of third parties with whom we shared that information.
- Right to Delete: You have the right to request the deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions provided by law.
- Right to Correct: You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information that we maintain about you.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes. Therefore, there is no need to opt out.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights.

7.4 EU/EEA Residents — Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you may have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), including:
- Right of Access: The right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: The right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Right to Erasure: The right to request deletion of your personal data under certain circumstances.
- Right to Restrict Processing: The right to request that we limit the processing of your personal data under certain circumstances.
- Right to Data Portability: The right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format and to transmit it to another controller.
- Right to Object: The right to object to the processing of your personal data for certain purposes, including direct marketing.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on your consent, the right to withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

8. International Data Transfers
The Service is operated from the United States. If you are accessing or using the Service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from, and potentially less protective than, the laws of your country of residence. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other jurisdictions as described in this Privacy Policy.
Where required by applicable law, we will implement appropriate safeguards for international data transfers, such as standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.
9. Push Notifications
We use Expo Push Notifications to deliver real-time alerts about activity on the Service, including new followers, likes, comments, remixes, and other social interactions. When you enable push notifications, we store your Expo push notification token securely on our servers and use it solely for the purpose of delivering notifications to your device.
You may control which types of notifications you receive through the notification settings within the app. You may also disable all push notifications through your device's system settings. Disabling push notifications will not affect the core functionality of the Service, but you may miss timely updates about social activity on your account.
10. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites, applications, or services that are not operated or controlled by Tenz. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any third-party websites, applications, or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party websites, applications, or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party websites, applications, or services before providing any personal information to them or allowing them to collect information from you.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by posting the updated Privacy Policy on the Service and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We may also provide additional notice, such as a notification within the app or an email to the address associated with your account, for significant changes. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of those changes. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
